eBay announced to all Proact members that we have initiated the "e-stop" program, allowing Proact members to report stolen property directly through the listings on the site. This would immediately be sent to the Proact team for take-down and efforts will begin to prosecute in conjunction with the impacted retailer. "
"This program is very similar to a retailer making a physical stop in their stores and should only be used when all elements of proof are in place, as we intend to take immediate and aggressive action", says Paul Jones eBay.
On investigations requiring further proof or evidence, working with your Proact investigations partner is the correct avenue that will ensure we gather the appropriate proof needed to pursue action.
In 2009 we have done the following:
1) Staffed a Proact Team consisting of 5 people
2) Resolved 500+ investigative inquiries that resulted in at least 200 bad actors being stopped
3) Enrolled 170+ companies in our Proact program in an effort to support their ORC needs
4) Trained over 500 LP professionals
5) Trained internal partners within eBay on the stolen good issues
6) Developed a suite of exception reports to support initiatives to reduce stolen goods
7) Hosted major retailers in San Jose and Salt Lake City to educate them on our current and future plans to include soliciting their ideas
8) Integrated into the Loss Prevention community by developing partnerships with LP Magazine, LP Foundation and the LP Research Council
While we still have plenty of work to do, we feel great about our partnerships and look forward to working productively with retailers in 2010.
