Genetec Ports Omnicast to IONODES’ SV-3200
Posted: October 1, 2009

Saint-Laurent, Canada, September 9, 2009 – Genetec, a pioneer in the physical security industry and a provider of world-class IP security solutions, announces the availability of Omnicast through IONODES’ new network security appliance, the SV-3200 Network Security Appliance. Genetec continually makes efforts to expand its ecosystem of supported hardware, making this initiative one of many which aims to port the Genetec software to network security appliances.

The video surveillance market is rapidly shifting to IP-driven solutions using IP cameras, IP management software and network storage. The SV-3200 powered by Genetec combines all of the flexibility of a sophisticated IP video surveillance solution with the simplicity of a single appliance. Currently powered by Genetec’s IP video surveillance solution, Omnicast, the SV-3200 is also designed to be powered by other Genetec security applications, making it an all encompassing network security appliance.

Today, the SV-3200 can manage up to 32 cameras and offers eight built-in Ethernet ports for direct connectivity of IP cameras, avoiding the need of external hardware. With Genetec’s Omnicast software built in, the SV-3200 appliance can also be seamlessly integrated to any new or existing Genetec Federation system, making this instant out-of-the-box platform the most advanced network security solution on the market.

The SV-3200 is the first network security appliance that offers true backward and forward compatibility. With up to 16 video analog inputs to retrofit existing analog cameras and eight built-in Ethernet ports for direct IP camera connectivity, the SV-3200 is the best choice to start migrating an analog video system to IP. The SV-3200 can then be extended to 32 IP cameras with an external switch to be used as an IP NVR only. Customers also benefit from Omnicast’s open architecture that supports a wide range of IP cameras.

Customers will have the choice to either deploy the encoders or cameras of their choice or leverage some of the unique features of the SV-3200, including support for H.264 high-profile compression codec, which can reduce storage requirements by over 50% when compared to a compliant MPEG4 SP codec. More so, the SV-3200’s powerful video encoding engine generates up to three different compression profiles per analog video input, allowing it to adapt to various streaming and recording environments. The feature-rich SV-3200 appliance also supports point-of-sale (POS) integration, offers high capacity disk space with up to 3.0 TB of internal storage and provides high availability by offering redundant power supplies.

“The SV-3200 is a self-contained networked video security appliance designed to take cost and complexity out of the deployment of enterprise class video and/or access control solutions for smaller sites,” says Pierre Racz, President at Genetec. “The SV-3200 will extend the reach of Omnicast and Synergis to projects that would otherwise gravitate towards legacy DVR and access control solutions because of cost sensitivity and complexity aversion.’’

“Partnering with Genetec has allowed us to launch a truly superior network security appliance that can be used in small- to medium-sized installations,” says Jean-Paul Saindon, President at IONODES. “Now customers from a variety of industries can take advantage of the simplicity and ease of deployment of the SV-3200, and still benefit from all the high-end features of a leading video surveillance solution.”

The SV-3200 will be showcased at ASIS, booth 4201, from September 21-23, 2009, in Anaheim and at APS, booth B-26, from September 22-24, 2009 in Paris.
